2016 was a big year for me beauty wise. I found some of my favorite products, realized what works/doesn’t work for my skin and even went VIB Rouge (a.k.a. spent WAY too much money at Sephora). Amidst the countless products I tried last year were a number of hidden gems that I’m happy to share with you today!
I’ve been wearing makeup for a long time. I love that you can create so many different looks with it and play up whatever feature you’re feeling that day. With makeup, however, comes a lot of money down the drain. Somewhere along the way I developed the idea that drugstore makeup was not good enough, and thus began the many, many trips I’ve made to Sephora over the years.
I’ve always found makeup to be more than just putting stuff on my face. I love that it allows you to express yourself in different ways throughout different stages of your life. Every time I see a light purple eye shadow with extra sparkles in it, I think of my 7th grade self. Or when I see a light green eye shadow and a dark green eyeliner? That was my freshman year of high school. Though I’ve retired the green eyeliner (now that I’m thinking about it, I’d definitely be willing to bring that back), I still use makeup as a way to showcase my personality.
